Skirts shorter, heels lower
Skirt lengths are coming up in Sydney, and the heels are going down. This is the message from one of Australia’s leading fashion comperes and co-ordinators, Carol Provan. Mrs Provan, who promotes fashion in Australia — she also is a fashion columnist — said on arrival in Timaru on
the cruise ship Fairstar that she showed fashions which related to different age groups. “I believe in showing a fashion parade that has clotnes for young girls, right through to the mature woman,” she said. With her on the “All About New Zealand” voyage are
five fashion models. The garments they are showing will be released in March and April for the winter season. Her advice to women buying clothes is to be guided by their own judgment when trying on garments. "If you like the look, you cannot go wrong,” she said. Compromise could otten
be the best course with fashion, she added. Sporty-type hats, of the "Garbo” style have been featured during the cruise parades. "It is so feminine and intriguing to see a lady wearing a hat,” said Mrs Provan.By DOUGLAS HODGE.
