Scott Base anniversary recorded
The twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations held at Scott Base in the Antarctic last month have been recorded for posterity on video tape by the Antarctic Division of the Department of Scientic and Industrial Research. The celebrations marked 25 years of New Zealand scientific research at the base which was opened on January 20. 1957.
At a showing of the tape in Christchurch the superintendent of the Antarctic Division Mr R. B. Thomson, said that the tape would be kept for historical purposes. The tape will first be taken to Wellington to be seen by the D.S.I.R. there.
