W. Indies’ early return?
NZPA Sydney West Indies, the world champions, will be back in Australia within the next three years, said the Australian Cricket Board’s executive director, David Richards, yesterday. Mr Richards said yesterday that discussions between the A.C.B. and the West Indian authorities were already under way with a view to their next tour. “I have read reports which have suggested the West Indies won't be here until 1987 and I don't know where the people concerned got their
information,” said Mr Richards. “The West Indies will certainly be in Australia well in advance of 1987 — certainly within the next thr.ee years and possibly before that.” Mr Richards said that plans for the 1983-84 season tours had not been finalised but negotiations were well under way. Most cricket experts believe the West Indies will play six test matches on their next tour to Australia, with another country making up the triangular one-day series.
