‘Listener’ and programmes
Sir,—l wonder how many of the 40 per cent of electors who returned this vindictive National Government buy, read, and appreciate the “Listener”? At any rate, I hope they are watching “The Greeks” on television on Sunday evenings. After all, we profess to admire the democracy they created. Read all about it in the “Listener.” — Yours, etc., F. MINEHAN. February 4, 1982.
Sir,—Permit me to congratulate wholeheartedly the intrepid audacity of Mr Muldoon and his Caucus in. attacking those pinko rodents in the “Listener.” This sort of courage and heroism in the face of such widespread logic is exactly what we deserve. Now that this leap has. been taken, let them not withdraw from even greater challenges in reducing simpering Government and quango monopolies. Let the Ashburton service clubs produce their own local telephone directories, Aqua Avia can be in the air within minutes, the Diamond Harbour ferry can be diverted to Picton immediately to shatter the Railways’ grip on inter-island transport, and the Inland Revenue Department can be leased to the highest tender. My application to break the monopoly held by the Royal Mint is already in the mail and I have no doubt that my product will be much superior to the rubbish they have been oublishing lately.— Yours, etc.,' lAN ORCHARD. February 4, 1982.
