Obituary Mr G. K. Pannell
Mr George Kenneth Pannell, prominent in science education in Canterbury, died recently. Mr Pannell, aged 52, had been head of the science department at Lincoln High School since 1965 and at the time of his death was president of the CanterburyScience Teachers' Association. having previously served as secretary for 10 years. • He was also prominent in the work of the Scripture Union in schools, serving as Canterbury secretary of the Inter-School Christian Fel-
lowship for the last 20 years. Mr Pannell was a leading lay member of St David’s Methodist Church, Burnside, and served as circuit steward for the last seven years. Before taking up his position at Lincoln High School, Mr Pannell taught at Fairlie District High School and Riccarton High School after grad uating from the University of Canterbury in zoology "and chemistry in 1956. He was educated at Christchurch Boys’ High School, the University of Canterbury and Christchurch Teachers’s College.
