PA Wellington The Israeli Prime Minister, Mr Menachem Begin, has sent a message to New Zealand saying that his country wholeheartedly welcomes the contingent of New Zealand soldiers who will serve in the Sinai peace-keeping force.

The message to the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) reads:

“In the course of two world wars, the people of Israel came to love the Anzacs stationed in our land and we still preserve a deep sentiment for them.

"Now we wholeheartedly welcome the new contingent of New Zealand soldiers who will serve in peace and for the sake of peace.”
