NZPA-Reuter Kanpur, India The al.l-rounder, lan Botham, did his best to revive England’s chances in the sixth and final cricket test against India, but a draw remained the most likely outcome after the third day. England needs to win at Kanpur to share the series, four draws having followed India’s win in the first test at Bombay. England resumed after lunch yesterday at 249 for four and reached 378 for nine, with Botham scoring 142, before declaring in the final session. India then made 12 for one in the 35 minutes before the
close, Botham bowling Pranob Roy for five in the day’s final over. Botham’s century was his ninth in tests. He reached his hundred off 180 balls and was in sight of his highest test score — 149 against Australia last year — when he was stumped moving down the pitch to the leftarm spinner, Dilip Doshi.
