Ball, Eastmond lead

PA Nelson Andy Ball and Bob Eastmond, of Auckland, lead the Flying Dutchman sailing nationals, in Nelson, after five races. There are two to go in the series which finishes today. The pair won race five yesterday afternoon after sailing a very tight race in a fresh breeze. Second were the Wellingtonians, Milton Pope and Dane Sharp, and Brian Treleaven and John Collingwood of Christchurch, third.

Results of yesterday morning’s race, sailed in a 15-knot south-westerly, are subject to protest on the winners Treleaven and Collingwood. The protest is on the portstarboard rule. In second place were Ball and Eastmond, with their fellow Aucklanders, Jock Bilger and Jack Hansen, third. Treleaven and Collingwood are at present second over all although the protest result may drop them back a place.
