Bowie shows
David Bowie is hoping to play his first British concerts
for more than five years at Earl’s Court this summer, according to the “London Standard” columnist, John Blake.
Last year Bowie turned down an offer of one million pounds (SNZ2.3 million) to give a single show at Blackbushe Aerodrome, about 50km west of London.
Though the bid was a closely guarded secret, Bowie told friends at the time that he felt unprepared, he didn’t need the money that badly, and he wished — in any case — to concentrate on his career as an actor.
Now, however, he feels the time is right to make his comeback as a rock performer, Blake said, adding that Bowie had been inspired by the huge success of his “Scary Monster, Super Creeps” album and of his singles “Fashion" and “Ashes to Ashes."
