More than 700 people will mpete in the Wilson Neill Ines and Spirits Highland jmes at the Canterbury jow Grounds on February Six bands will compete in p pipe band competition, id there will also be a ction for solo piping. A bhlight of this section of e competition will be the um majors’ staff flourishg display which will inide the New Zealand
champion, Drum Major G. Price. More than 250 competitors have entered the Highland dancing section. This will include the "Dance on a Drum.” in which dancers perform a Highland fling on a brass drum which is held aloft by pipe band members. Other competitions during the day will include woodchopping, hammer throwing, caber tossing, tug-of-war events, and a steeplechase.
