Top athletics post
NZPA London An official of the Brisbane Commonwealth Games yesterday was named to Britain's top athletics job. Nigel Cooper, aged 52. chairman of the Games Organising Committee's personnel planning division was appointed General
Secretary of the British Amateur Athletic’Board. English-born Mr Cooper will take up his new post in April, six months before the Games. He succeeds David Shaw, who resigned last November. Mr Cooper won the job from a short list of six after the board's selection committee had scrutinised more than 60 applications.
