Royal Decision due for win at Timaru

The lightly campaigned Royal Decision has yet to win a race this season, a situation she could well remedy in the Diamond Pasta Handicap at Timaru on Saturday. Royal Decision was unlucky not to get closer when third to Dundas and Tarlad in a mobile 2600 m event at Addington on January 1. After leading early in the piece, the Lordship five-year-old was continually shuffled back through the field and

was forced to go around them all on her finishing run, an effort which took her within a length and a half of the winner. Included in the beaten lot that evening were Angelo Dundee, False Regal, Genesis and Single Cee, race rivals also tomorrow. Angelo Dundee will be one of the toughest to beat. event at Addington. Another last-start winner is The Sting, impressive when beating Scottish Sunset and Take Care on January 4. The Card Shark five-year-old is a handy stayer and he has drawn well on the front at four at the barrier. Genesis, which made most of the pace only to be run down by Angelo Dundee last start and False Regal, needing one win to reach cup class are other fancied runners. False Regal has already a

3200 m success at Timaru to his credit, is usually a brilliant beginner and will be running on better than most over the dying stages of tomorrow’s first double leg. Loyal Onedin, a fast-finish-ing and luckless second to Now’s Your Chance on the first day should gain some compensation in the Diamond Handicap, second leg of the double. Super Byrd, an impressive winner at Addington two starts back, and Stormy Attack also appeal.
