Winning trial
Special correspondent Palmerston North Standoff ran a winning trial for the Beefeater Handicap at the Marton meeting when he galloped at Woodville yesterday morning. Working oh the plough. Standoff ran 1000 m in Imin 1.45. the last 600 m in 37.25. He ran good races at the Manawatu meeting last month, and has had time to freshen. Noel Harris will ride him. High Idea looked ready to shine in the Junction Plate when she ran 1200 m in lmin 15.85. the last 600 m in 38.75. She also worked well on Tuesday.
