‘Invasion force’ rescued

NZPA-Reuter Miami An invasion of Haiti by a group of Florida-based exiles collapsed yesterday when the United States Coast Guard rescued the assault force, led by a petrol-station owner, from a leaking yacht. A Coast Guard spokesman said the. cutter Gallatin, which normally patrols Haitian waters to’intercept and turn back boatloads of Haitian refugees heading for Florida, responded to a distress call from the yacht Caicos Cloud. One man aboard the boat identified himself as Bernard Sansaricq. aged 37, a Ford Lauderdale service station owner who was leading the invasion attempt. Nearly 30 other men aboard the Caicos Cloud said hey were his followers, acording to Lieutenant Gil 'onger of the Coast Guard. The group apparently tandoned the small island Tortuga, off the northst coast of Haiti.
