‘Coup’ fails
NZPA-Reuter Roseau Masked gunmen staged simultaneous attacks yesterday on Dominica’s police headquarters and central prison in a bid to overthrow the Prime Minister (Mrs Eugenia Charles) a Government statement said. A policeman and a former member of the country’s de-
fence force were killed and nine’ others, including the Police Commissioner, were wounded in early morning attacks, which it said the police repulsed. The statement did not say how’ many men were involved in the raids, nor how many of the injured were policemen.
