Police ‘disgusted’ by Alexandra ‘drunks’
PA , Alexandra The police were disgusted by. the number of drunken people at the North Island v. South Island cricket match at Alexandra yesterday.
Constable Peter Woods sail he had never seen so many “drunks” in his 3% years in the town. “Their behaviour certainly left a lot to be desired. It was worse than any Christmas or New Year revelry we have had here in my time.” He said many of them were “just obnoxious” and urinating where ' they stopped. It was “pretty disgusting.” The police talked to dozens of. people but only two arrests were made — one for assault and one for being on enclosed premises.
More than 3000 people
attended the match, played in temperatures of 30 degrees and higher at Alexandra’s Molyneaux Park.
