Pay rise for hotel workers
PA Wellington Almost 20.000 hotel workers will get an 11.4 per cent across-the-board pay rise as the result of a new hotel workers’ award. The National Secretary of the Hotel Workers’ Federation, Mr Les Short, said from Auckland yesterday, that allowances in the award, as well as basic pay rates, would increase 11.4 per cent. For the first time this year, service pay would be available to casual and parttime workers.
“Any person working in a hotel for three days or more a week, now qualifies for the service pay,” Mr Short said.
