Retiring judge to keep title
PA Wellington . A retiring judge of the High Court, Mr Justice White, would retain the title, “the Honourable,” the Gover-nor-General (Sir David Beattie) has said. ,
judges of the Court are eligible to be recommended to the Queen for the retention of the title for life on relinquishing or retiring from office.
Sir David said that the Queen had approved his Honour’s retention nf the title.
His Honour has been a judge of the Court since.l97o. He will retire tomorrow. He was Solicitor-General from 1966 to 1970:
