Sports grants
PA Wellington Grants totalling $143,960 were announced yesterday by the chairman of the Sports Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Admiral Sir Gordson Tait. The latest grants, which apply to 12 snorts, bring the total amount of assistance provided by the foundation since it was launched in 1979 to $889,711.
Supplementary grants to the sports involved in the Brisbane Commonwealth Preparation programme amount to $61,900. Sports receiving assistance are: Archery $lOOO, bowls $15,700, cycling $12,300, swimming and diving $24,400, marathon swimming $l2OO, ski-ing $9OOO, badminton $lOOO, boxing $5OOO, track and field $28,660, squash $lO,OOO, canoeing $3200, surf life-saving $2500.
