No 1982 Nambassa festival without a bond

PA Hamilton There will be no 1982 Nambassa music festival unless someone can put up a bond to cover the expenses of holding one. A member of the management committee set up at a September creditors’ meeting, Mr Brian Beaumont, of Waihi, said yesterday that the committee had not made any decision about a Nambassa festival next year. But at its first meeting it was clearly understood that no festival would be held unless a former Nambassa trustee, Mr Peter Terry, could raise a bond to cover all expenses. Mr Terry still works unofficially for the trust, after his bankruptcy. Mr Terry was supposed to report back to the committee about a bond but no further meeting had been held. Mr Beaumont said that as far as he knew none of the committee had heard from Mr Terry. In past years, the festival had been held late in January after months of townplanning applications and hearings with local authorities.

Mr Terry could not be reached yesterday.
