P.O. announces new stamps

PA Wellington In its latest series of stamp issues, the Post Office is featuring Antarctic research, New Zealand centenaries. and the International Year of Science. The first to be released will be a series of six new Ross Dependency stamps, designed by the official Antarctic artist, Mr Maurice Conly of Waikanae, and covering 80 years of research and adven-

ture there. Coinciding with the twenty-fifth anniversary of Scott Base, these stamps will be released on January 20. 1982.

The stamps of sc. 10c, 20c. 30c. 40c and 50c will be

accompanied by a first day cover, costing $1.65. Although these are only valid on mail posted within Ross Dependency, first day covers can be pre-ordered at all Post Offices and mailed to clients with a Scott Base postmark.

The 1972 set of Ross Dependency stamps will be withdrawn from sale on January 19. unless stocks run out earlier.
