Bringing a garden inside
Indoor Plants: A Popular Guide. By Brian and Valerie Proudley. Blandford Press, 1981. 176 pp. Illustrations. $16.95. (Reviewed by Thelma Strongman) Styled as a New Zealand book “Indoor Plants — A Popular Guide’’ would make a pleasing gift for the enthusiast. It is difficult now to product a book which gives an original slant on the subject so its producers have aimed for quality and value for money. The charm of this book lies in its
presentation. The direct and useful information which is conveyed in the text is attractively laid out and the printing is strong and clear. Each plant is given a double page treatment where a good quality colour photograph (usually full plate) matches the notes on the opposite page. It is a pleasant, easily handled size, but this book has added sensual attractions. Printed on good quality glossy paper it is a book-sniffer's dream.
