African Chad force builds up
NZPA N'djamena The Organisation of African Unity's peace-keep-ing force in Chad continues to grow; about 300 Senegalese troops have arrived in the last three ..days, and Britain has promised financial help for Nigeria’s contingent. ?. ' ■ But informed sources said that three of the originalsix countries named for the force — Togo, Guinea: and Benin — were unlikely to take part and the'Chadian Government was ' sounding out a new possible participant, Ethiopia. -.. ‘ About 700 Zairean paratroopers and 450 Senegalese soldiers are already in N'djamena, the Chadian capital. The first Nigerian troops were expected today.. The O.A.U. force will replace Libyan troops who. left Chad last month after intervening last year in a civil war.
