NEW ZEALAND PORTS AUTHORITY CEMENT HANDLING FACILITIES AT PORT NELSON IN September 1981, the Nelson Harbour Board made application to the New Zealand Ports Authority for consent to expend a maximum of $1,150,000 on the construction of a cement silo and bagging plant at Port Nelson. On November 11, 1981, the Authority, pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Ports Authority Act 1968, resolved to deal with the application as a proposal for adoption as part of the national ports plan. Having now considered the submissions placed before It and consulted with parties concerned with the proposal, the Authority has resolved to adopt as part of the national ports plan the designation of tne Port of Nelson as a port for the handling of cement.
