France, Italy in finals
NZPA Paris France has qualified for the World Cup soccer finals in Spain next year by beating Cyprus 4-0 at Pans. Italy qualified too. by beating Luxemburg. France. 7-0 winners over Cyprus in the first European qualifying Group Two match, set only a sedate pace at the start of Saturday's match, evidently fearing over-confidence. But after a cautiously-played 24 minutes. Dominique Rocheteau took advantage of a free kick to bring the home team its first goal. Playing a more assured game. France than moved rapidly to push home its advantage and little more than two minutes later Bernard Lacombe put it two goals ahead. France's third goal came in the eighty-third minute from Lacombe again. Genghim made the score 4-0 three minutes later France took second place in the final Group Two table on goal difference from the Republic of Ireland which, like France, has 10 points. Belgium leads the group with 11 points.
Italy beat Luxemburg 1-0 in a Group Five qualifying match. The winning goal ’came from Fulvio Coliovati after only six minutes. Group Two'final standings:
