Second win to Park

Lancaster Park notched its second win of the season when it beat the strong St Albans side in a limited-over game to complete the first round of the senior women’s cricket competition on Saturday. In the other senior game Riccarton had a comfortable win against Sydenham. Lancaster Park won the toss and sent St Albans into bat. Tight bowling and slow scoring had St Albans 130 for six at the end of its 60 overs. Vicki Burtt batted well for 60. In the Lancaster Park innings Jennv Olson (37). Debbie Hockley (41) and Vivienne Cowles (28 not out) gave Park victory with four overs to spare. Riccarton could only manage the small total of 116 for nine in its 60 overs, but it was enough to secure a win against Sydenham. The Riccarton batting was slow after it lost quick wickets, but Leslie Murdoch batted through the innings for 42 not out.
