Second win to Park
Lancaster Park notched its second win of the season when it beat the strong St Albans side in a limited-over game to complete the first round of the senior women’s cricket competition on Saturday. In the other senior game Riccarton had a comfortable win against Sydenham. Lancaster Park won the toss and sent St Albans into bat. Tight bowling and slow scoring had St Albans 130 for six at the end of its 60 overs. Vicki Burtt batted well for 60. In the Lancaster Park innings Jennv Olson (37). Debbie Hockley (41) and Vivienne Cowles (28 not out) gave Park victory with four overs to spare. Riccarton could only manage the small total of 116 for nine in its 60 overs, but it was enough to secure a win against Sydenham. The Riccarton batting was slow after it lost quick wickets, but Leslie Murdoch batted through the innings for 42 not out. Svdenham lost its openers early and never looked likely to reach Riccarton’s target. Del’wyn Costello with four for 13 and Ingrid Beijen with three for 13 were the best Riccarton bowlers. Results were; Senior Lancaster Park 134/6 (J. Olson 37. D. Hockley 41, V. Cowles 28 not out; K. Gilray 2/32, K. Hadlee 2%0) beat St, Albans 130/ 6 (J. Jamieson 19. V. Burtt 60; D. Hockley 4/55). Riccarton 116/9 (L. Murdoch 42 not out. D. Averey 21, G. Kydd 21; S. Brown 2/21, S. Weaver 2/ 21, S. Gardyne 2/7) beat Sydenham 65 (M. Campbell 21; D. Costello 4/13. I. Beijen 3/13, S. Rattray 2/13). Senior B St Albans 108 (L. Roberts 39; C. Sim 5/54, J. Evans 2/23, D. Mitchell 2/27) met EaslChrtstchurch Shirley 86/7 (L. Roberts 4/17, J. Codper 3/38; S. Jones 18, D. Mitchell 29). New Brighton 77 (P. Booth 43: J. De Joux 2/12. C. Christianson 2/29. C. Keenan 2/9, R. Clarke 2/ 1) met Burnside-West University 84/7 (N. Thompson 59 not out; P. Booth 5/26, P. Tuitaupe 2/24). Second grade Burnside-West University 67/7 (L. Clarke 16) beat High School Old Bovs 60 (L. Clarke 5/17, R. McKenzie 3/14, -K. Meechan 2/ 30). Riccarton 168 (D. Webster 54. C. Moffatt 56; K. Dawson 2,10. M. French 2,30) beat Lancaster Park 118 (M. French 57; V. Rees 2/21). Third grade Riccarton 132 2 (R. StockieySmith 31. K. Patterson 81) beat New Brighton 30 (C. Kemp 16; A. Beijen 4 11. R. Stockley-Smith K. Patterson 20) and 4'3 (K. Flintoff 19; A. Beijen 2 3. S. Hurst 27. K. Paterson 38) outright. Burnside-West University 59 5 (D. Hindle 22: A.
