Marathon numbers up
NZPA London An overwhelming demand for places in next year’s London marathon has resulted in the organisers allowing an extra 2000 runners to compete. The field for the marathon, which will take place
through the streets of London finishing at Westminster Bridge, has now been expanded to 16,000, said the race organiser, Chris Brasher. The expansion was a response to applications from all over the world to run in the marathon, he said.
