A Family Home is a large house owned, furnished, and maintained by the Department. It is occupied rent free by the selected foster parents who receive board payments for about six foster children and young people placed in their care. The foster fattier follows his usual employment, wnile involving himself in the care of the children and the home. The children are selected from those in the Department's care who need a stable home, but are unable to settle in foster homes.
