Lucky escape for pilot
A Prebbleton pilot had a lucky escape when his Cessna 182 flipped on to its back when landing in a potato paddock near Springs Road yesterday morning. A police photographer is pictured moving in for a closer inspection of the plane. The pilot. Mr Don Anderson. was attempting to land his plane in a paddock near his home, not far from the Prebbleton overhead bridge. Mr Anderson told the
police that he was going to land on the five-metre wide strip in the paddock when he saw a tractor. He attempted to gain height, but hit some soft soil and the plane flipped over. Mr Anderson, the managing director of a Springs Road Cool Pak premises, suffered cuts and grazes to his right hand in the accident. The Christchurch Fire Service attended the accident, but was not required.
