Searches bear some fruit
NZPA London A huge police search through every lock-up garage in London has uncovered a huge and varied assortment of crimes, the “Sunday Telegraph” reported yesterday.
The hunt had uncovered — © The body of a coloured girl in a garage, apparently a murder victim;
© A suicide; and, © A huge amount of missing property, including stolen electrical goods valued at $172,000 in one garage in Essex.
Eighty-two people- had been arrested, the newspaper said. The head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist squad (Commander Michael Richards) said that two-thirds of London’s 251,000 lock-up garages had been searched. But the Irish Republican Army cell responsible for four recent bombing in London had not been found.
