PA • Auckland The election campaign has provided a useful background against which National and Labour have been able to boost their campaign treasuries. With just 54 pieces of artwork, the Labour Party raised $9850 at a New Zealand art auction held at the Maidment Theatre, Auckland, on Saturday. The art-
work included paintings,,, drawings, pottery, photographs, Muldoon cartoons by Christopher Lawson, and etchings, Mr Hamish Keith acted as auctioneer and each picture sold for more than the one before it. The artwork was given by artists throughout New Zealand, including Sylvia Siddell, Patrick Hanly, Nigel Brown,
Don Driver, Claudia Pond Eyley, Michael: Smither, Marti Friedlander, Denys Watkins, and Ralph Hotere. The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) reported that his party’s funds had benefited by more than $lO,OOO because the organisers of his Christchurch election rally sold entrance tickets at $7.50 a head.
