Two killed after match
NZPA London Two people were killed and at least six people were seriously injured when an escalator carrying football fans stopped suddenly at Seven Sisters underground station, north-east London, according to a Scotland Yard report.
A London ambulance spokesman said that possibly 12 people had been seriously injured. Some reports said that the injuries had been caused by the failing of the escalator while other reports said that they had been caused by fighting between fans returning from a Tottenham-Man-chester United match at nearby White. Hart Lane.
A . London Transport spokesman said, “The escalator stopped but we do not know how or why.” The station was working normally soon after the incident.
