Team men ponder futures
NZPA staff correspondent Paris The All Black coach, Peter Burke, and his captain, Graham Mourie, were both non-committal about their futures yesterday following New Zealand’s test win over France at the Parc des Princes.
Burke, who coached the All Blacks to series wins over South Africa, Scotland, and France, as well as a victory over Rumania, in his first year in the job, said that he had not given any thought to his availability next year. “I will get home and then
have a think about things,” he said. Mourie, who has almost certainly led his final All Black tour to Europe, said that he would be “playing it by ear.” "If I play next year and enjoy it, I could keep on,” he said. Mr Burke paid tribute to
the support of the senior All Black players — most notably Mourie, Andy Dalton, Andy Haden, and Stu Wilson — for the record of six wins to one loss he achieved as All Black coach this year. "Their co-operation was magnificent, and I used their experience to the full,” he said.
