The Library serves a present Borough and District population of approximately 280 C which is expected to increase to more than 5000 by 1985 with the expansion of Cromwell as headquarters for the Clutha Development Project. The present Library, which has a stock of 10.000 books has recently been extended, and provides pleasant working conditions. It is staffed by tile Librarian (approximately 30 hours per week) and Assistant (6 hours per week). A new Borough Library is to be built in the new Town Centre during the expansion programme, and it is expected the Librarian position will grow to a full time one. The Council is seeking applicants with the ability and experience or qualifications to develop the Library through this challenging period. Salary.is in terms of N.Z.L.A. scale $12,403 — $15,604 according to qualifications and experience paid on a part time basis.
