Stock title to Griffiths
Gerald Griffiths retained his Canterbury stock car champion's title on Saturday evening after securing a clean sweep in the three races contested. There were a few anxious moments for Griffiths in the last race when he was involved in a multi-car pileup on the first lap. The incident was marked by Griffiths being slammed into the fence and several other cars all going in different directions. Luckily for Griffiths little damage was sustained and he carried on to a deserved championship win. Final points: G. Griffiths 48, 1; A. Hurst, 44, 2; T. Hern, 39, 3.
