Foot loses favour
NZPA-Reuter London The British Opposition Labour leader, Michael Foot, is the most unpopular head of a British political party since World War 11, according to the latest Gallup Poll. The same poll also showed that the ruling Conservative Party would be defeated into third place if a General Election were held now. . The poll figures, to be published in the “Daily Telegraph” showed that only 16 per cent of voters inter-
viewed thought Mr Foot was doing a good job. Among Labour supporters a minority, 37 per cent considered he was a good leader. The poll indicated that the alliance formed by the old Liberal Party and the new Social Democratic Party would win a General Election held now. Forty-three per cent said they would vote for the alliance, 28 per cent for Labour, 25.5 for the ruling Conservatives, and the remainder for other parties.
