Man charged with raping same woman twice

A man charged with raping the same woman twice within a period of 10 days was remanded in custody to November 26 by Judge Frampton in the District Court yesterday. Outside he used his bicycle to smash a plate glass window and then the defendant chased the complainant down the street. In explanation, the defendant said he felt he had to take the law into his own hands after having been sold the faulty sewing machine. Compensation of $420 in respect of the windows and the signwriting on it was sought, said Sergeant McLeod. CHARGE DENIED A charge of unlawfully getting into a $2600 parked car outside the No. 1 courtroom on Wednesday was denied by a man and a woman. Shane Shannon Hamilton, aged 23, a sickness beneficiary, and Michelle Maria Rickus, aged 20, unemployed, were both remanded to February 5 for a defended hearing. The charges arose after a member of the public telephoned the police about the car outside the courthouse.
