Pankhurst fined
PA Dunedin Jim Pankhurst, the Wingatui trainer, has been fined $250 for wrongfully entering, accepting and starting Kapai at the Otago meeting on September 26. The horse has been disqualified from third placing ,in the Telegraph Handicap. The fine, $lOO for entering and accepting; and $l5O for starting, and the disqualification were imposed by the Otago District Committee, as the result of charges laid by Mr Jdck McCulloch, the j Otago stipendiary steward. The committee took into account the action of Pankhurst and the owner, Mr Ces Wallis, of notifying the club immediately they became aware of the error and returning the $2OO stake. The Telegraph Handicap was for the winners of two or three races. Kapai has won four. Goldcrest has been promoted to third and Special Keeper to fourth in the race.
