Gold price falls below $US400
PA London Gold bullion fell in London and Zurich yesterday to close below SUS4OO an ounce for the first time in more than three months. The US dollar moved higher from a weak opening in Tokyo. Mr Giuseppe Tome, a Geneva gold specialist, said that he believed state banks had withdrawn from bullion markets and “I think there is no interest in gold for the time being.” (The Union Bank of Switzerland said in its latest newsletter it expected a wait-and-see attitude to prevail in the bullion markets for the immediate future.)
