‘Energy and growth issues’
The National Party candidate for Christchurch Central, Mr lan Wilson, is contesting his fifth election in Christchurch seats since 1963. He has. stood for National in
Riccarton, St Albans, and Sydenham. ' A consulting engineer, and married, with two children, Mr Wilson was a' member of the Christchurch Drainage Board for 12 years and served as chairman of its
finance committee. He is a past chairman of the Christchurch' Civic Trust and of the South Christchurch Jaycees. He is now chairman of the Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society. Mr Wilson says the main issues facing New Zealand are the development of alternative energy resources, the stimulation of economic
growth, and the reduction, of inflation.
Limitation of energy, options air pollution, and encouragement for economic growth are the main issues facing Christchurch, he says. For New Zealand as a whole, Mr Wilson says he would like to encourage legislation that would promote individual opportunities and discourage trivial legislation and wasteful administrative regulations. He says he wants to see Christchurch get its fair share of the national spending and that the voice of Christchurch is- heard in Wellington. He will ensure that he is available to all the people of Christchurch Central if elected.
