Leon Hock, aged 20, an apprentice butcher, was remanded to December 22 for a defended hearing on these charges. He admitted a charge of assaulting a man while he was an uninvited guest at a twenty-first birthday party on October 24.
On this charge he was convicted and remanded to the same date for a probation report and sentence. (Before Judge Pain) CHARGE DISMISSED

Brighton bn ..Guy. Fawkes night, November 5, was dismissed by Judge Pain in the District Court yesterday. The defendant, who was represented by Mrs P?' D. Gibson, denied : the change. Sergeant M. P. Caldwell prosecuted. After hearing prosecution and defence' evidence, the Judge said the question of identity of the person who threw the egg was placed squarely in issue in the case. The police witness had only a limited opportunity of seeing this person and. the defendant denied that he had thrown the egg. The quality of identification was not, sufficient to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was the defendant.
The charge arose from an incident at the New Brighton ramp after a fireworks display when eggs were thrown at a traffic car and a police car.
