Big orchard fire
PA Nelson A fire early yesterday caused damage of more than $30,000 to the office and workshop of an orchard jointly owned by the Nelson director of the Fruitgrowers’ Federation, Mr Paul Heywood. The office and workshop were completely destroyed. Mr Heywood owns the orchard with his brother, Mr Michael Heywood, at Riwaka, near Motueka. It was the second run of bad luck the Heywoods have had this week. The previous night the orchard was flooded during the storm that battered Motueka and Golden Bay.
