Canterbury’s pride
Increasing employment and fostering pride in local products is the aim of a “Let’s. Help Canterbury Grow” publicity campaign to be launched today by the Canterbury Promotion Council.
The $20,000 month-long campaign runs to 160,000 product labels and 7500 posters and banners. Funds come from more than 60 participating businesses and local authorities. The council’s executive officer (Mr B. R. Dunstan) said that he hoped the campaign would encourage support for local commerce and industry, helping to reduce serious unemployment in the region. Individuals and groups also needed to work together and take more pride in their products.
“We want to encourage people to think positively
rather than get on the depression bandwaggon and ride out of town.” he said. Advertising for the campaign centres on a “produced in Canterbury” design which features a red-letter “C” incorporated into an arrow.
