j PA Auckland Two men facing charges of : abduction and rape were re- ! manded to next year for a i preliminary hearing when ( they appeared before Judge '■ Cartwright in the District ' Court at Auckland. i Stanley Steven Popata, aged 23, unemployed, of | Onehunga, and Keith Turner i Cullen, aged 22, an unem- ! ployed storeman, of Glen I Innes, were remanded in custody to January 20. ! They face one joint charge
that on November 4, with intent to facilitate a burglary they assaulted a man, three charges of unlawfully carrying off two women and the man with consent obtained by duress with intent to cause them to be confined, and two charges of unlawfullj' entering glasshouses at Mt Wellington with intent to commit a crime. Popata faces two further counts of raping one, of the women and Cullen one charge of raping her.
