Aero club stands by Aqua Avia Society
PA ' Auckland The Piako Aero Club would stay with the Aqua Avia Society, the club decided at the week-end. Club members had' Infor-, mal talks about’the problems the society has . had in starting its services. “ ' • The president of the club, Mr Bruce McCrae; said it had been agreed that the club should stay ■ with the society and work towards launching • a scheduled service. '' < “They (the . society) have made their share of mistakes,” said ‘Mr McCrae. “However, we -hope they will come up with a manageable package.”
He said the club had decided that Mr John Trolove, who resigned as a director of the society last week, would remain as the aero club’s airline division manager, The chairman society’s boards Sift Reginald ■> Barnewall', -said -yesterday that he would riot make any . more public statements. He said news organisations had /distorted what he had
said and had, broken confidences. ! " The-society is still waiting to hear, from the Civil Aviation Division of the Ministry of Transport about its application for papers which will allow, it to fly a leased Viscount aircraft.
