Time trial for Gammalite

The Victorian pacer, Gammalite, will go against time in an attempt to lower Lord Module’s national mile record of Imin 54.9 s after the fourth race •at Addington Raceway tomorrow evening. Gammalite has had no luck in his two starts at the cup. meeting, finishing fifth in the New Zealand Cup after .receiving a rocky run, and fourth in the Benson and Hedges Free-for-all last Friday after being forced wide throughout. He recorded better than a Imin 58s mile rate on Friday. Gammalite’s ownertrainer, Leo O'Connor, offered to allow the horse to go against time to give Addington patrons a chance to see him at his best

No money will be at stake in the time trial, but the Metropolitan Trotting Club will provide a trophy to mark the occasion. The last Australian-trained pacer to trial over one mile at Addington was Mount Eden, which recorded Imin 56.6 s in February 1971.
