Car alarm

An automatic car alarm which also warns of short circuits is one of the products to receive the Designmark award. For Mr Dave Sintes, of Securatronics, Ltd, it was a matter of learning the hard way. His car was broken into while parked in his own driveway. “Everything that was not bolted down was taken. What was fixed securely, such as the stereo speakers, was smashed,” Mr Sintas said. The Securatronic alarm has now been on the market 12 months.

It can- be fitted anywhere in a car. Because it is wired into the electrical system it provides a certain amount of fire protection. “The majority of car fires start with a short circuit. This alarm actually monitors the electrical system and will give warning if a short circuit occurs,” Mr Sintes said. The alarm is suitable for any 12-volt vehicle and is easy to install. Working on a two-minute alarm cycle, the alarm pulses both the horn and headlights when activated.
