New moderator for Presbyterian Church
The Rev. D. M. Steedman. of St John’s Church, Willis Street, Wellington, is the Moderator-designate of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand for 1982-83. Mr Steedman, who was born and educated in Dunedin,, has an M.A. degree in history from the University of Otago, and a bachelor of divinity degree from the Melbourne College of ityHe has been a minister in parishes at Ashburton, Geraldine, Cashmere Hills, and St Andrew’s Church in Christchurch, and was a member of the Presbyterian Social . Setvices Association in Christchurch and Ashburton fdr a total of 18 years. Recently, Mr Steedman was the convener of the Wellington Students’ Committee, and he is involved in working with the Wellington BoyV Institute and the Wellington Seamen’s Welfare League, - as well as being chaplain of . the Wellington Toe H Club. Mi- Steedman is married.
with a son. two daughters, and four grandchildren. The Rev. Dr P. C. Matheson, of Edinburgh, has been appointed professor of church history and doctrine by the Presbyterian Assembly. Dr Matheson lived in NewZealand for 10 years while his father was minister of a [ Dunedin parish, and returned to New Zealand for a year I on exchange recently. u He will come to New Zea- j land from Edinburgh to take ; up the post next year.■
