A display proof of the largest book produced in New Zealand, a folio of watercolours by the late Charles Heaphy, provides an arm rest for the author, Mr Anthony Murray-Oliver, in the Cashel Street shop of Whitcoulls. The book, which has pages the size of a daily newspaper, is being published by Avon Fine Prints, of Christchurch. Sixty-three pictures are reproduced, almost all in facsimile size. The pre-publication price is $750, although this could rise after the publication day, some time before Christmas. The plate shown is “Kauri Forest. Wairoa River, Kaipara,” painted in 1839.
