Big stakes lift by Banks Pen.
Record stakes for slowclass racing at country meetings will be paid by the Banks Peninsula Trotting Club at its country and western meeting to be held at Motukarara on Monday, December 28. A total of $30,000 will be distributed in stakes, an increase of 25 per cent over those paid at the corresponding meeting last season. The projected stakes are higher than those being paid for similar classes at the Metropolitan ; Club’s New Zealand Cup carnival. “We’ve had a great
response from sponsors and this has enabled the club to give stakes a big boost.” said the president (Mr George Mugford) yesterday. “Added to that we enjoyed'a successful meeting last month,” he said. Maiden horses will race for $2600, Cl horses for $2900, C2 horses for $3lOO. C 3 horses for $3500 and C 4 horses for $4lOO. The programme includes three races for maiden pacers one for maiden trotters, two for Cl pacers, one for C2 pacers and trotters, and one race for C 3 and one for C 4 pacers.
